The 6.7L Power Stroke replaced the old HEUI-injected 6.0L/6.4L with a proper common-rail system, and it's been Ford's diesel heart since 2011 — a strong, tuning-friendly platform when the calibration respects how the turbo setup changed over the years.
Turbo Setup Changed Partway Through
2011-2014 trucks run a compound turbo setup, while 2015-and-newer trucks moved to a single variable-geometry turbo. That difference matters for how a tune manages boost and spool, so a calibration needs to know which turbo setup it's actually working with.
The 6R140 TorqShift Automatic
Every 6.7L pairs with the 6R140 TorqShift automatic. It's a capable transmission, but like any diesel automatic it depends on the tune managing torque delivery instead of just adding fuel and hoping the transmission keeps up.
Tune Types
- Economy tune: efficient, smooth fueling for daily driving.
- Tow tune: predictable power under load with transmission longevity in mind.
- Street tune: a real power increase that's still comfortable every day.
- Wild tune: for built trucks with the supporting mods to back it up.
Common Problems Tuning Addresses
- Falling MPG or a truck that feels flatter than it used to
- An unknown tune left behind by a previous owner
- Wanting a safer, more conservative tune before towing heavy
- Turbo lag or sluggish response on trucks that could use a cleaner calibration
Getting Started
6.7L Power Strokes are well supported through EZ Lynk for remote tuning and revisions, with EFI Live and HP Tuners available for specific goals. Send over your model year and current setup and we'll point you to the right platform.
